Somalian Beauty and the Islamic Beast

I have recently read, and strongly recommend, this book by Ayaan Hirsi Ali called Infidel - a woman with whom I often disagree but whose book is, for the greater part, interesting to read. She has survived with great dignity the worst experiences in the most repressed way - everything from forced marriage to infibulation; a woman who believes (probably rightly) that she is the only person born in the particular hospital of her birth in Somalia who is still alive today. A very courageous woman who has sought political asylum in the United States to escape the wrath of those to whom her very existence is seen as an injustice and an incitement to murder; people who really do embody evil; people who because of their Islamic inculcation believe they are so sure of their entitlement to murder because their holy book says so. If ever there were emphatic evidence needed that one can disagree with many of a person’s beliefs yet still find edification and appreciation from such disparity, then I think her book is a strong case in point. A remarkable woman, with much courage and dignity.
